Clationary
Purpose: Enhance
participant’s ability to communicate and problem solve as a group.
Materials:
1. Play Dough – enough for every 4-6 people
Activity: Provide
a small container of Play Dough to each group of 4-6 people. Each small group chooses someone to
start out as the modeler. The
group facilitator provides the group modelers with a topic. The modelers race back to their groups
and sculpt the word or phrase. The sculptures are not allowed to talk. Each group is sculpting the same topic
simultaneously. The first team to
shout the correct answer wins that round.
Round 2 begins when another topic is given to the 2nd modeler
from each group.
Variation: make the activity to become a group
challenge to see how long it takes for all of the groups to guess the answer
Processing:
1. What
did you observe while participating in this activity?
2. What
strategies did you use to accomplish this activity?
3. How
did you feel when you were the modeler?
4. How
did you feel when you were a guesser?
5. How
did your group work together?
6. Were
there any strategies used to help assist your team?
7. How
did anyone or your team work through frustration?
8. What
implications does this activity have for life?
