Tobacco Education Card Mixer

Purpose:  This game gets everyone moving around and talking to other group participants they might not know.  Group participants will also build their knowledge regarding tobacco use and its risks.

Materials:  Tobacco Education Deck of Cards (may be purchased at www.deathcards.com) or a regular deck of playing cards.

Activity:  The group leader hands out a playing card to each participant.  Round 1 – each participant finds a partner.  First, they introduce themselves to each other.  Second, they say something about themselves for each number on the card (e.g., Ace – 1, 2 – 2, 3 – 3, etc.).  Once they have provided facts about themselves, they discuss the tobacco fact on the playing card or in their sharing provide information about themselves as it relates to tobacco.  Once completed, exchange cards and find a new partner and repeat the activity until the group leader stops the process.

Processing:

1.    Did any of you have a hard time sharing information about yourself with you partners?  Why or why not?

2.    Did anyone learn something new about someone in the group?

3.    Did anyone learn something new about tobacco?
